Discussion and Web Safari

So far you have received a lot of input. Now it is time for you to give back to others. On the next page you will find a discussion board. Use the appropriate threads to respond to the discussion and safari prompts.

Discussion
Here is the initial question:

As most of you are aware there is a shortage of substitute teachers. The same is true of interpreters. Use this discussion thread to brainstorm ideas to help you communicate with the deaf child in your class when there is no interpreter. You need to be aware that the deaf child will probably tune out alot of what happens without an interpreter. These are the questions to consider:

  • How do you communicate:
  • How do you make instruction as accessible as possible?
  • How do you make sure the student gets the homework assignment?
  • Any other ideas?

Web Safari
For the web safari search the internet to find websites appropriate to the topics below. In the discussion board enter the URL of the site you found. Also please include a brief description of the site.

  • Websites that teach sign language. There are quite a few out there. Find one and share it with others.
  • Websites that provide resources for teaching children about the sense of hearing.
